World map by Nicolas Sanson depicting the continents on a double-hemisphere projection. Our — later state — item (published in "L'Atlas Francois" by Alexis Huber Jaillot in 1719) includes the cartographic mistakes of this age, but California is already shown as a peninsula. The engraver, Louise Cordier placed the coat of arms of the king in the top centre of the map field, a dedication below and a finely designed cartouche in the lower centre with the publisher imprint. Dimensions: 460 x 645 (520 x 740) mm. Original outline colour. Large water stain at the top and smaller on the right side. Two small tears previously restored.
