Britannicarum Insularum Typus
Map of the British Isles — oriented to the west — from the 1595 Latin edition of Abraham Ortelius's "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum". Based on the 1564 map of Gerard Mercator and regional depictions of Humphrey Llwyd and Christopher Saxton. The engraver added three richly embellished cartouches and illustrated his work with several stunning galleons. Latin text on the back. Dimensions: 365 x 505 (445 x 560) mm. Fine, clean copy.
