The first part of the volume contains Kitonich's Latin manual on Hungarian customary law and its Hungarian translation by János Kászoni, the scribe of the Transylvanian princely chancellery.
Kitonich's work was first published in Nagyszombat in 1619, and the translation in Gyulafehérvár in 1647. Part of the publication is the "Centuria certarum..." with an independent title page – also Kitonich's work – that presents a hundred controversial legal propositions from Werbőczi's "Tripartitum" and seeks a solution to them. The work was the only Hungarian-related legal manual of an academic standard of the time. Its importance is shown by the fact that it appeared as an appendix to the official editions of Hungarian laws from the second half until the end of the 19th century.
