Walesi bárdok
A festmény a „Magyarország ma” sorozatom része, amely politikai és társadalomkritikus alkotásaimból áll.
A festményt Arany János Walesi bárdok költeménye ihlette, amely Wales angol megszállásáról szól. A balladában 3 bárdnak kell köszönteni a királyt az ünnepi vacsorán. Végül további 500 bárddal együtt máglyán égtek el, mert megénekelték a király szörnyű tetteit.
Ez a „dicsőítő költemény” I. Ferenc József osztrák császár Magyarországra érkezésére íródott. Számomra ez a téma ismét érvényes a mai mérgező politikai kultúrában.

A festmény saját készítésű festékkel készült, mely alapvetően pigmentekből és méhviaszból áll. Nem tartalmaz olaj- vagy más festéket.
Maga az eljárás az ókorba nyúlik vissza, és évezredek óta ismert. A világon csak néhány művész dolgozik önmagában viasszal.

Az elmúlt években az OSB-t vettem alapul. A festékrétegek visszahúzásával kompozícióim részeként a lemez textúráját használom fel, hogy egyedi, rusztikus ipari hangulatot teremtsek. Az OSB lapnak köszönhetően ezek a műalkotások nagyon stabilak, de súlyosak. Ez újrahasznosított alapra készült alkotás. Ezt az enkausztikát egyszerű fa léckerettel láttuk el, amely harmonizál a festmény indusztriális stílusával és jól kiemeli azt. Felfüggesztésre kész!
Bards of Wales
Pure encaustic, hot wax and pigments on OSB, H70 W50 D1.2 cm, 2018
This painting is part of my Series of Hungary Today, which consists of my politically critical and socially critical artworks.
The painting was inspired by one of the most famous Hungarian poems which is about the English occupation of Wales by Edward I of England. Portrayed in the ballad, 3 bards should hail the king at the gala dinner. In the end, together with another 500 bards were burned at the stake because they sang the gruesome acts of the king.
This ‘poem of praise’ was written for the arrival of Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria to Hungary. For me, this theme has everlasting relevance for the toxic political culture of today.
The painting is made with self-made paint, which basically consists of pigments and beeswax. Does not contain oil or other paints. The procedure itself dates back to antiquity and has been known for thousands of years. Only a few artists around the world work with wax on their own.
In recent years, I have used OSB as a basis. By retracting the paint layers, I use the texture of the veneer as part of my compositions to create a unique rustic industrial atmosphere. Due to the OSB board, these works of art are very stable but heavy. This is recycled art. The encaustic is equipped with a simple wooden exhibition frame, which harmonizes with the industrial style of the painting and highlights it well. Ready to hang!
