Peter Paul Müller was a German artist who particularly distinguished himself as a landscape painter. Müller studied at the Grand Ducal Saxon Art School in Weimar under Karl Gussow and Theodor Hagen, and from 1876 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich. After completing his studies, Müller settled in Gauting in 1879. He undertook study trips to Algeria, Italy, and Poland. From 1889 to 1897, he visited Neubeuern Castle several times. Müller became a member of the Munich Artists' Association and the Luitpold Group. He exhibited his works at venues including the Münchner Glaspalast (Munich Glass Palace). On July 6, 1931, 22 of his works were burned in the Glaspalast. This drawing was created for the Munich-based magazine "Radfahr-Humor," founded in 1887 by the mechanical engineer and bicycle enthusiast Heinrich Hildebrand. Perhaps the most important illustrator to work for "Radfahr-Humor" was Emil Kneiß (186 –1956). The "Hildebrand & Wolfmüller" motorbike, initiated by Hildebrand and introduced in 1894 (production period 1894–1995), was the world's first mass-produced motorbike. "Radfahr-Humor" was discontinued in 1901.
