Ortelius, Abraham: Illyricum
Antwerpen, 1573.
Map of Croatia and Slovenia by Johannes Sambucus. Published in the 1573 Latin edition of Abraham Ortelius’ “Theatrum Orbis Terrarum”. Based on Augustin Hirschvogel’s map (1565) as the cartouche in the lower right corner describes. The map field shows the region from Carinthia to Brod in the west-east direction, bordered by the Drava in the north and the Dalmatian coast in the south. Latin text on the back.
Dimensions: 375 x 475 (420 x 540) mm. Restored with slight discolouration along the fold line.
