Nova Descriptio Hispaniae
Rare map of the Iberian Peninsula by Gerard de Jode, published in the second edition of de Jode’s „Speculum Orbis Terrae” in 1593. The author of the map was Pirro Ligorio, the Neapolitan architect, painter and antiquarian. The engravers, Jan and Lucas van Deutecum added several, finely detailed galleons, aquatic animals and the ornate Spanish royal coat of arms as illustrations. The title is shown at the top of the map field. Latin text on the back. Mérete: 385 x 515 (415 x 555) mm. Fine, clear copy.
