Copper-engraved portrait of Imre Thököly, Prince of Upper-Hungary in an oval frame. Published in Paris around 1683. There are two versions of the depiction. The image and the introductory text are identical, but the publisher's name here says “chez la Veuve Bertrand”, while the other says “chez N. de L'Armessin”. According to sources, after the death of Pierre Bertrand, a renowned publisher of the time, in 1678, his son-in-law, Nicolas de Larmessin, continued his activities. It is possible that Bertrand's widow had temporarily acted as publisher before this. In this case, this item is the earlier variant.
