Vidovics Ágoston: A’ Magyar Neologia Rostálgottatása. ~ Veszprém Megyebeli Pap által.
Pesten, 1826. Petrózai Trattner Mátyás ny. XII+(1)+14-187+(5)p.
A late piece in the language reform struggle. Its author was a Catholic priest and a member of a papal literary society (who called themselves “Somlyó tájji”) organised by supporters of the moderate language reform. The preface was written by the renowned polymath and chief physician of Veszprém County, János Zsoldos. Both were learned linguists, they clearly analysed the mistakes of the purists and approached the development of neology with a historical perspective. Their opinion of Kazinczy was that he served a noble purpose but chose his methods poorly, wanted to be a dictator, and destroyed instead of innovating. An extremely rare work.
Worn, contemporary hardpaper.
Poss.: With the owner inscription and several notes of Lajos Eötvös, Károly Eötvös' younger brother.
Szüry: 5059.
