Emil Beischläger was an Austrian painter and draftsman. After completing his military service, he began studying law as a one-year volunteer, which he dropped out to take a job in a bank in 1920. There he met the painter Anton Hula. From 1923, he took his first self-taught private lessons with Egge Sturm-Skrla, Just one year later, his work was represented in the Secession's winter exhibition. After Sturm Skrlas moved to Salzburg, Anton Faistauer also became a role model for Beischläger. Beischläger took up a position in the Ministry of Social Affairs, which he held until his retirement. In 1939 he became a full member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus, In 1942 he was called up for military service. During this time, he managed to create artistic freedom for himself and continue his work. In the exhibition “Vienna Graphics” in 1944, works by Beischläger were presented alongside works by Alfred Kubin and Robin Christian Andersen. In 1953 the first personal exhibition took place in the Künstlerhaus, of which Beischläger became vice president. Scholarships abroad enabled him to study abroad in Europe in the 1960s and 1970s. Beischläger mainly created landscape paintings, portraits, still lifes and graphics, some of which can be seen in the Museum of the City of Vienna (WienMuseum). In 1972 he showed his work at the Künstlerhaus Vienna. Further artists and styles: Still life, landscape, portrait, oil painting, watercolour
