First Hungarian translation of the complete Quran. The translators used Christian Reineck's Leipzig edition of 1721, which is based on the Latin translation of Italian Ludovicus Maraccius from the end of the 17th century.
Only two volumes can be mentioned as Hungarian antecedents. The first is the work of Kristóf Peicich (see lot 298), which was published in 1717 and publishes excerpts with a proselytizing aspect. The other is the "Keresztyén archivarius” (see lot 88) of Ferenc Hunyadi, a reformed pastor in Debrecen, which was published in 1794 and, in addition to ancient classics, also provides details from the Quran that can be related to the Bible.
