Zsolnay Secession-style Vase, Forest Landscape with Deer
Designed by Lajos Mack (1905, form number: 7648) based on Sándor Apáti Abt’s design. Cast white ceramic decorated with pierced so-called “á jour” technique and embossed design. Multi-layer, acid-treated, dim, so-called “scratched gold” surface treated with coloured eosin glazes. Smaller fire-crack on pierced rim. Form: 12nd Facon-book, drawing no. 7648, “Pattern by Lajos Mack, design: Sándor Abt, 28 July 1905, “geformt”. Use of the piercing technique was re-initiated for secession-style vases by Sándor Apáti Abt in 1904. Published in: Mendöl: Abt, JPM Évkönyv, 1977. Unmarked, around 1905.
