On 17 February 1682, the Diet of Fogaras ordered the ambassadors of the Porte of Transylvania to refuse to participate in the campaign in Hungary. However, on 25 April, under the influence of the Sultan's order, measures were taken to start military preparations. On 23 June, Prince Apafi announced the campaign against the kingdom. The Transylvanian forces set off on 5 August but retreated at the end of September.
