1985. VI. 8-án kelt, saját kézzel írt, aláírt levele Édes jó Barátom, Kedves Gyulám! megszólítással. Az A/4-es lapra írt egészoldalas levél címzettje nagy valószínűséggel László Gyula (Illyés és Kunszery már nem kaphatta, esetleg Takáts de nem tudok kapcsolatukról), akivel jó barátságot ápolt. Érzelemtől fűtött leveléből néhány szó kiemelve: nagyon boldoggá tettél drága leveleddel, büszkeségem, leghálásabb, megsúgva és kiáltva, esküszent őszinteséggel, legtermékenyítőbben hat, ölel Szentkuthy Miklósod.
A levél alján idegen kéz írásával: „Az egyetlen metafora felé c. könyvéhez mellékelve.”
