(Magyarország és Erdély kézzel színezett, rézmetszetű nemzetiségi térképe; Szántai: Paget 1b.); 1 t. (címkép: Lánchíd a budai várral)+XII+553+[1]+16 p.+1 t. (a Duna a Kazán-szorosnál). Mindkét kötetben G. Hering szövegközti illusztrációval.
Első kiadása 1839-ben jelent meg. A reformkori Magyarországról szóló, alapos, forrásértékű munka, mely a hazánkról írt legjobb régi művek közé tartozik. Tárgyilagosan mutatta be Magyarország és Erdély szociális, politikai és gazdasági helyzetét. Több téves eszmét, mely a magyarokról a kontinens nyugati felén makacsul tartotta magát, sikerült eloszlatnia. Az angol orvos Pagetből, később Wesselényi Polixénia férjeként, magyar patrióta lett. Részt vett a szabadságharcban, majd hétéves emigráció után visszatérve, erdélyi gazdaként aktívan részt vett a gazdasági és társadalmi életben. A mű Angliában négyszer, Amerikában kétszer és Németországban is megjelent. Példányunk a 4. angol kiadásból való./Krisztina.
Korabeli, egységes, aranyozott gerincű, (gerincének felső részein kissé sérült), tábláin vaknyomással díszített vászonkötésben.
