Kuun Géza, osdolai gróf (1838-1905.) az MTA tagja, a Magyar Néprajzi Társaság elnöke, nyelvész, ethnográfus. Ő adományozta az MTA kézirattárának a kötetet, ezért nevezték el róla az 1621 és 1647 között keletkezett kéziratos énekeskönyvet. Nem összetévesztendő a Kun Kódexszel (CodexCumanicux), amely a magyarságba beolvadt kun nép legjelentősebb 14. századi nyelvemléke.
Fűzött, kiadói borítóban, gerincén apró sérülés.
