Váradi Szabó János (1783-1864) pedagógus, jeles könyvgyűjtő volt. Pestalozzi nevelési módszereit megismerve széles körű szervező munkát fejtett ki a Pestalozzi elvei szerinti nevelés, művelődés érdekében. „…a körülmények teszik az embert, de éppen olyan hamar azt is láttam, hogy az ember alkotja a körülményeket, megvan benne a képesség, hogy azokat sok vonatkozásban a maga akarata szerint irányítsa.” A szabadságharc leverése után visszavonultan élt Debrecenben.
Korabeli papírkötésben, gerincén címke. Duplum pecsétekkel és beírással. Friss példány, ritka.
