With the support of Ádám Herepei, the Hungarian Society of Nagyenyed was founded on 18 October 1791 (according to other sources, on 7 September). From 1790, Herepei taught history, ancient literature and poetics in Enye. His previous students were Farkas Bolyai and Sándor Kőrösi Csoma among others. The latter turned to the research of Hungarian prehistory because of his influence.
The purpose of the student-only society was to develop the language and rhetorical skills of the members. Their work resulted in this anthology, the publication of which was supported by Count Pál Torotzkai, who came from a wealthy family. The volume also contains the first Hungarian translation of two Molière comedies. No data has survived about the later literary work of the 35 members (except two occasional poets). Zsuzsanna Márta Pintér's study, "Drama Translations of Transylvanian Student Associations" describes the organization's history in more detail.
Modern hardpaper. With a gradually fading brown spot on the last leaves.
