Csokonai tragikusan rövid élete alatt sok műfordítást írt saját művei mellett. Szinte minden műfajban kipróbálta fordítói képességét: lírai, szépprózai és drámai műveket is nagy számban fordított. Különösen kedvelte az olasz szerzőket, így Pietro Metastasio XVIII. századi költőtől, drámaírótól és Torquato Tassotól, az olasz barokk irodalom legmeghatározóbb alakjától is több művet fordított.
Pál Ferenc János XX. századi mérnök, könyvgyűjtő könyvtárából, az első táblára ragasztott ex librisével.
Korabeli festett papír felhasználásával készült, modern papírkötésben.
