A Kedves drága Margitka! megszólítással kezdődő levélben kéri a címzettet, hogy a korábban neki ajándékozott „Báthori” képet mutassa meg Gerra Mihály úrnak, aki tervezi annak rézkarcba metszetését. Ha Gerra úr kéri, bizonyos időre adja kölcsön a festményt, „jótállok Gerra úrért, abszolute megbízható uriember”. Levele végén a szokásos: „Hogy, s mint van?”
