Gyurits Antal (1819–1892) jogász, ismeretterjesztő és pedagógiai író, klasszika-filológus, műfordító. 1843–1849 között az országgyűléseken mint gyorsíró működött. 1849 után csak a tudományokkal, irodalommal, nyelvtudománnyal és klasszika-filológiával foglalkozott. Megalkotta a „Magyar helyesírás szabályai” című munkát. „A gyorsírásról elméleti és gyakorlati tekintetben” című ismertetőjében elsőnek adott áttekintést a gyorsírás hazai állapotáról.
