Together with Ernst Nepo, Rudolf Lehnert, Herbert Gurschner, and Sidonius von Schrom, he formed the Mühlau Circle. In 1925, Schnegg co-founded the artists' association "Waage." In 1929, he spent four months in Dalmatia and Bosnia, and in 1930, he visited Italy. Schnegg created, above all, oil paintings, woodcuts, and murals (including the war memorial in Fiss, Tyrol).
