William Seabrook (1884-1945) amerikai újságíró, világutazó, kalandor. Különböző, egzotikus vidékeken való utazásain élénken érdeklődött a helyi transzcendens hagyományok, mágikus rítusok iránt, a témában számos népszerű könyvet adott ki. Az 1920-as évek első felében lezajlott afrikai útja nyomán a kannibalizmus rítusáról írt szenzációs részletekben gazdag leírást, majd az évtized végén Haitiben tett látogatást. The Magic Island (A bűvös sziget) néven megjelent kötete tette közismertté a haiti voudou rítusokat, és különösen annak zombi koncepcióját. A könyvben írottak nyomán készült a Lugosi Béla főszereplésével forgatott, műfajalapító horrorfilm, a ,,White Zombie', 1932-ben. William Seabrook fantasztikumokban gazdag útleírását Alexander King (1899-1965) amerikai grafikusművész groteszkségekben gazdag, expresszionista rajzai kísérik. A kötet végén a szerző néprajzi felvételei. Gerincén feliratozott, vaknyomásos kiadói egészvászon kötésben. Körülvágatlan példány.
