A magyar történelmet ‒ különösen a szabadságharcot ‒ bemutató kötet szerzője fiumei kereskedő, majd a Magyar Kereskedelmi Társaság igazgatója volt. Kossuth bizalmával visszaélve elsikkasztotta a társaság pénzét, majd Párizsba menekült. Itt a magyar ügyet népszerűsítő folyóiratokat indított, majd a bukás után kiadta a fenti művet, ezzel valamit enyhítve bűnösségén.
Kiadói, aranyozott gerincű félbőr-kötésben. Lapjain alul vízfoltok, gerince javítva.
