A szerző (1815-1873) a paleobotanika első, jelentős hazai képviselője. A munka „Erdőbényei és Tállyai ásatag virány” címmel jelent meg magyarul. Az 56. oldaltól: Johann von Pettko [János]: „Bericht. Uber die auftrage der geologischen gesellschaft für Ungarn…” c. munkája.
