A felvétel a romániai forradalom kirobbanásának ikonikus helyén, Temesvár főterén készült, a Ceausescu házaspár kivégzése utáni napon. A fővárosban és az ország jó néhány nagyvárosában a katonaság átállt a tüntetők oldalára, ugyanakkor a Securitate egységei továbbra is folyamatos veszélyt jelentettek, országszerte voltak még harcok. A harcok a kivégzés után még néhány napig folytatódtak, de december 28-ára teljesen megszűntek.
