Bacon (1561- 1624) az újkori gondolkodás vezéralakja, Anglia kancellárja volt. Intelligenciája miatt egy időben elterjedt róla, hogy ő írta Shakespeare helyett a csodálatos drámákat. Bukását ajándékok elfogadása, megvesztegetés okozta, amely már akkor közönséges és elítélendő dolog volt a tisztségviselők körében.
Korabeli pergamenkötésben, gerincén felirat. Jó példány (8×14 cm.).
