1909 Lengyel Árpád (1886-1940) orvos, a Titanic tragédiájának idején az RMS Carpathia hajóorvosaként részt vett a mentésben, díszes diplomája, Pázmány Péter Egyetem, Sághy Gyula (1844-1916) rektor és Preisz Hugó (1860-1940) autográf aláírásaival, 3 korona okmánybélyeggel, rajta fölülbélyegzés pecséttel, hajtásnyomokkal, gyűrődésekkel. Üvegezett fa keretben. 47x65 cm. A mentésben kulcsszerepe volt, a Carpathiára érkező túlélőket ő fogadta, amikor beemelték a hajótörötteket. Lengyel Árpád unokájának elmondása alapján a Titanic hajótöröttjeinek a kimentése hatalmas lelki megrázkódtatást jelentett neki, később sem szívesen beszélt róla egy-két szakmai felkérést kivéve. Többet nem szállt tengerre. / 1909 Diploma of physician Árpád Lengyel (1886-1940), ship's medical officer of the RMS Carpathia at the time of the sinking of the RMS Titanic. He played a key role in the salvage operation, welcoming the survivors on board the Carpathia. Later he very seldom talked about the tragedy, as it was a huge emotional shock for him. Árpád Lengyel never set sail again. In his memoirs, Árpád Lengyel wrote: 'We could hardly cope with all the work and consolation. It was horrible to see all these people, women screaming for their husbands and children who were lost before their eyes, and here and there lonely children who had lost their parents. We comforted the poor with sobbing hearts... It was a very sad journey back (to New York), with only weeping and wailing everywhere...'. Paper with some creases. Framed. 47x65 cm
