PARTICIPATION IN AN ONLINE AUCTION VIA AXIOART | FOR USERS
The auction house accepts online bids for the items in its catalog within a specified period of time. A traditional auction event does not pertain to the online auction since the bids take place only online. The online auction could only be followed by Users, for Visitors it is not available.
For making a bid at an online auction, registration is required. The online bidding function can be used after entering the site. The online auction box can be found under the green mouse button, which is next to the item. You will find the following functions and information contained in it:
Current bid: It shows the current state of online bidding, the bid that is currently winning. (The starting price of the item is found above the function keys.)
Sending a bid: pressing the bid button: If no one has made a bid on the item yet, the starting price is the first bid. All further bid is according to the next bid increment. Please note that THE BIDS CANNOT BE CANCELED! You are obligated to pay after pressing the bid button!
Bidding starts: It means the starting date of online bidding.
Bidding closed: It means the ending date of online bidding.
Time: by each item the axioart site shows the remaining time til bidding closure, and it’s counting. You can see the exact day, hour, minute, second for the remaining time by reloading the page.
Setting a Bidding Agent: a Bidding Agent is recommended to be set if you do not want / can follow the auction via Internet. You make a bid and the agent represents you up to this limit in the bidding battle. The Bidding Agent is a writable field that is found below the bid button, next to the item. You can enter any amount, BUT if the amount does not correspond with the bid increments, the site will offer the nearest smaller and bigger amount that is according to the bid increment. After entering the appropriate amount, please click on the “Set Bidding Agent” button. The amount of the Bidding Agent is not public, it can only be seen by you, for other Users and auction houses it is not available. A Bidding Agent can also be set in case the last bid was yours. In this case you do not bid against yourself. The agent creates a “store” of your further bids, in case another buyer makes a bid on the same item. The agent can be modified up and down. To upwards it is unlimited, to downwards: the modified amount is based on the current winning bid plus one bid increment. By amount equality, the Bidding Agent wins against the normal bidder, thus the bid made by the Bidding Agent earlier is winning. If there are two Bidding Agents set with the same amount, the Bidding Agent which was set earlier wins.
Other terms related to online auctions:
Bidding starts and bidding closed: the starting and ending points of an online auction. The auction takes place between these two dates.
Time shift: at the time of the bidding start, the online auction will begin with the first item. The items become biddable at the exact same time, but at the bidding closure, they mature sequentially with one minute breakdown. The time shift is needed if you want to make bids on more items before the closing time. In this case, same maturity could cause problems for you.
Notifications: The system of axioart sends an immediate e-mail notification during the online auction in the following cases:
o If you made a valid bid
o If your bid was overcalled
o If you set a valid bid agent
o If your bid agent made a valid bid
o If you won the item
Increment: It is found on the item details page in the first sheet, below the online bidding box. It shows the steps of increment in round amount limits. The increments are recommended to check out before the bidding starts.
The closing of the online auction:
The catalog is transferred to the auction archive right after the bidding closure of the last item in the online auction. The auction house receives a detailed notification about the results, as well as the successful Users will be notified via e-mail by axioart. Aside the results of their bids, Users get contact information for the auction house, where they can inquire about payment and shipping conditions.
If your bid on an online auction item was successful, you can find your bidding results summary of the auction in your My Axioart page, as well as all your bidded items and successful bids.
